Castle Hill, with Victoria Tower on its summit, is a popular landmark overlooking Huddersfield and is archaeologically important as an Iron Age hill-fort. There are excellent views of the surrounding geology and landscape of this part of the Pennines. A leaflet describing two interesting way-marked walks, both starting from Castle Hill, covers the local landscapes, rock types and industrial history of the area. The free leaflet is available from the Tolson Museum, Huddersfield, and from Victoria Tower, which is open at weekends.
